B's View: Prepared to be Blown Away

This bad boy is a top of the line excelerated dryer and I am sure you have seen these popping up in gas station, mall, and restaurant bathrooms in your hood.  As Marilyn Monroe so wisely stated, diamonds are a girls best friend.  But this is a diamond's best friend.

The Act:  Simply take your rings off and put them under the air stream.  This essentially mimics how a jeweler cleans your rings professionally.  The results aren't as sparkly but I can always tell the difference!

Next time you have the luck of running across this lean mean machine, make sure you take advantage.

Do Do Dry Shampoo

Before we get started let me just stop you right there.  Put the cap back on, put the bottle down, and step away, this is not your Mother's shampoo,oh crap...wait...it is.

Dry shampoo is one of my secret weapons.  When you are blonde with lots and lots of thin hair that can't wait to produce oil, it is necessary.  But seriously, dry shampoo is great to have on hand in many situations.

The Culprits:
- wake up late (oh crap)
- sweating at the gym (ewww)
- your hair is flat on a humid day (hey, there are worse things)
- you have blonde highlights that have grown out (cha-ching)

The Perks:
Dry shampoo is a time saver which is really important to me when trying to maintain a good relationship with sleep.  I also think my hair has gotten healthier from using it.  If I wash my hair less, I also blow dry it less, and use my flat iron less.  Take that hair damage and 6AM wake-up calls!

The Act:
First you will need greasy or flat hair, check and check.

I take sections of my hair and spray the dry shampoo on my roots.  The key is to not spray directly on your part but just on either side (see picture below).  Then you can spray wherever else seems needy.

I then let it sit for about 10 minutes to soak in.  I usually do my make-up or get dressed (which takes more than 10 minutes unless I had a dream about my outfit the night before (yes that happens)). But back on topic, once I am dressed I come back and do a quick comb through to blend it in.  Viola!  (cue choir of angels and a small victory dance)

    [see? Big difference huh?]
The Options:
If you are thrifty go on & try: Not your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo [$5.99 for a 7 oz. can at Ulta and pictured below] This is my go to and I always keep a can or two on hand.  This can be found at Walmart or Walgreens.

If you have cash to burn go on & try:  Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo [$17.95 for 3.4 oz. at Ulta]
This can be found at Beauty Brands and some larger Targets and Walmarts.
If you don't have blonde hair:  Look for a specifically clear dry shampoo, most easily found at a beauty store such as Sephora or Beauty Brands.

Not so great experience: Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo and Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo
[Clever names but I had to return each product several times due to consistently malfunctioning cans.]

I hope this helps save some time and split ends for you in the future!  Spray away!

Work Wardrobe : Navy Pencil Skirt

Caution:  The only full length mirror with good light I see everyday is in that bathroom at work...don't judge.

I love this look for many reasons.  Firstly, navy is my favorite color and is always a classic!  Also, pencil skirts are flattering for many body types and add a look of sophistication to your work place wardrobe.  The necklace ties everything together using the navy and gold.  Finally, the tan/nude shoes create an illusion of longer legs.  I am all buttoned up and ready to work!

Navy skirt with ruffle (that you can't see) - The Limited
Cream sleeveless button-up - Simply Vera by Vera Wang
Navy and gold necklace - Old Navy (it didn't have a tag so I got it for $1.99!!!!  It never hurts to ask!)
Tan canvas pumps - Payless baby!
